DIN EN ISO 25649-2: Floating leisure articles for use on and in water - Part 2: Consumer information

A new draft of the DIN EN ISO 25649-2 standard was published in November. The standard deals with all forms of information for users of floating leisure articles. These can be inflatable objects in the form of rings, animals, etc.

One point is, for example, the scope and content of consumer information at the point of sale and on the product itself. In this context, statements are also made about the print quality on the product. The operating instructions for the product are also discussed. Another point is the presentation and arrangement of safety signs on the product.

The draft standard is bilingual in German and English.

DIN 8579: Translation-oriented writing - Text creation and text evaluation

A new draft of the DIN 8579 standard was published in November. This document provides recommendations for the creation and evaluation of specialist texts that are to be translated into other languages. German is assumed to be the primary source language, but the recommendations can also be applied to other languages. This document is primarily aimed at authors and editors of specialist texts. In addition, the standard can also be used by translators and translation service providers to assess the suitability of specialist texts for translation.
