Wie und wann bist du zu tecteam gekommen?

In September 1989, I started a training course to become a technical writer, which tecteam offered together with the T.O.P. computer school. It was the TR1 course, the first that tecteam ran under its own management. Classes were held at the premises on the corner of Heiligen Weg and Märkische Straße, while tecteam was located just a few meters away on Hansbergstraße. After 15 months of training and a 3-month internship, I started as an editor at tecteam on March 1, 1991.

Wie sieht ein typischer tecteam-Tag bei dir aus?

Computer on, get coffee, greet colleagues, informal chat with my team, "check another 148 emails", and then it's off, depending on what's on the agenda. Looking after customers, writing quotations, writing instructions, possibly on site at the customer's premises ...
And when evening comes, I'm allowed to go home again.

Was gefällt dir besonders an deiner Arbeit?

The variety. Of course, you don't do something completely different or new every day, but the fact that I work for a service provider means that there are always new challenges and issues that call for solutions over the years.

Which software can you not do without as a TR?

In my early days as an editor, I used to use Ventura Publisher, but that was a long time ago. However, one of my customers still uses it today. Apart from that, FrameMaker and InDesign are the standard tools that hardly any editor can do without. But that always depends on the customer.

Was machst du nach Feierabend?

I prefer to spend my free time with my wife or even better with the whole family, but as my boys are slowly growing up and some of them have already left home, this is becoming increasingly rare. When they were smaller/younger, I used to accompany my children in their sporting activities such as volleyball and basketball. Nowadays, I try to cycle at least once in a while and I've started to learn an instrument (electric bass) "at an advanced age" and make a bit of music with a colleague.

Was darf man in Dortmund nicht verpassen?

A BVB match in my home stadium, which I can always see through my office window, is great and highly recommended.
I like to listen to live music at the Musiktheater Piano.
And fireworks in Westfalenpark, e.g. from the roof terrace of our company, are also very nice.

The sun is shining, the loungers on the tecteam roof terrace are ready and I ...

... I like to take a break, let the wind blow around my nose and enjoy the view.
