Focus on solutions
Quanos Solutions GmbH and its partners - one of which was tecteam GmbH - presented solutions relating to the SCHEMA ST4 content management system, the SIS.one spare parts catalog and InfoTwin for networking and providing technical information. The core topics were the digital transformation of after sales and service, the shift to the cloud, AI and TIM.
First steps: Laying the foundations
Many companies do not yet use an editorial system or a content delivery portal and are currently dealing with selection, introduction and questions such as: Which metadata is necessary? Is it better to use variables or data nodes for a specific purpose? And how do you use labels in Callout Designer so that there are no problems with foreign languages? These companies are laying the foundations for new possibilities in the future: modular information and metadata.
Advanced: Use and optimization
Other companies took the first steps many years ago and are now tackling more challenging tasks. These include, for example, the reclassification of content for faceted searches in intelligent service documentation, the use of vector databases for RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) or issues relating to further cost reduction and quality improvement. These companies are therefore already benefiting from modular information and metadata.
AI-supported tools at Quanos
Quanos Solutions GmbH and its partners support their customers with a wide range of AI tools.
- The "AI Translator", which provides free pre-translations of DeepL, has been available for some time. Please keep unchecked AI translations in the system separate from checked translations and never give the AI translations to end customers!
- The "AI Jetpack", which enables the AI-supported classification of content, has also been around for some time and is a collaboration with plusmeta. Here, too, the "human in the loop" is essential.
- A new addition is the "AI Writer", a chat GPT integration. It can be used to summarize and restructure texts, for example to convert lists into tables or vice versa. You can also convert informal safety texts into standard-compliant ANSI warnings or adapt the style of calls to action.
- Another new feature is "Visual Search", a collaboration with the companies partium and nyris. This is an image-processing AI: you can send a photo of a component built into a product and the AI will give you the right spare part number. Quanos calls this "Self Service Enablement" and it should make it much easier for some service technicians to find spare parts.
TIM users facing the decision
Many users of the TIM editorial system from Fischer Information Technology GmbH, which is now a wholly-owned Quanos subsidiary, attended Quanos Connect for the first time to find out about migration options. However, many TIM users are still hesitant to develop a concrete migration scenario together with Quanos. However, it is clear that TIM will not be maintained for much longer.
Conclusion: assessment required
The different requirements and goals of companies, the diverse possibilities of AI support and the unanswered questions of TIM users show that the industry is in a state of upheaval: Technical communication is in a state of upheaval.
