There are a considerable number of providers on the market for content management systems (CCMS) and the range of services offered by the systems is constantly increasing. Who wants to maintain an overview(tecteam, for example)?

The wide landscape of editorial systems

Perhaps you feel the same way: at the relevant conferences and trade fairs, the exciting presentations at the providers' stands almost make you dizzy. Anyone who has had little contact with editorial systems in the past will certainly be amazed at the world that has been built up over the years, while you have managed your daily documentation tasks with simpler means and continue to do so.

No "Lost in Space"

It is not easy to keep up to date with the constantly expanding range of functions offered by editorial systems. This requires a lot of research, but also experience in using the various systems, e.g. from customer and pilot projects.

A few years ago, we began to establish more intensive contacts with various providers and build up a partnership with them. These include in particular the "Smart Five", as we call them, the companies Docufy GmbH(Cosima), Expert Communication Systems GmbH(SMC), Fischer Information Technology AG(TIM), pgx software solutions GmbH(bloXedia) and SCHEMA GmbH(SCHEMA ST4).

We regularly take advantage of the information and contact opportunities that these providers offer their customers and partners, e.g. attending conferences and user meetings or participating in workshops and training sessions to refresh or expand our knowledge.

Auch der Systemtag, den wir zweimal jährlich bei tecteam veranstalten, ist immer eine gute Gelegenheit zur Information aus erster Hand und für Gespräche mit dem Anbieter in entspannter Atmosphäre.

Knowledge creates supply

Although we invest a great deal to keep abreast of new developments in the "Smart Five", we also benefit from this. This is because we can now offer our customers (and those who want to become customers) a considerable portfolio of services. This begins with a "getting started" with the respective system and extends to the analysis and optimization of content quality.

Stay independent

It is inevitable that we get to know and appreciate each other through joint projects or regular exchanges. This creates a trusting relationship. We are also aware of the advantages and benefits of the individual systems and know the people behind them.

However, our maxim is: remain independent. We have been neutral in our advice from the outset and want to remain so. We are not active in sales for any provider, are not contractually bound in any way and do not make any specific system recommendations to our customers.

This is because it is important for us to be able to suggest editorial systems in selection processes that do not yet have a mutual partnership agreement with their providers, but which appear to us to be suitable candidates in terms of the project requirements.

Fazit

Based on these findings, we provide our customers with the right content management system and CCMS providers with satisfied users. In the end, everyone gets what they want.
